Find Badger Books at the Kronenwetter polls

The Village of Kronenwetter will be using Badger Books in the Spring Election on April 4. Badger Books are an electronic poll book. They perform all the functions of a paper poll book but do it more efficiently.

Election inspectors use these devices to check in voters and assign them a serial voter number, process absentee ballots, and process Election Day Registrations.

Data generated from the electronic poll book is used to upload election participation and Election Day Registration information into WisVote so voters may see their participation more quickly in MyVote.

“The Badger Books will make the process of voting in Kronenwetter more streamlined and efficient,” said Village Clerk Bobbi Jo Birk-LaBarge. “They will help election inspectors verify voter information quickly and accurately. We are excited to have such an amazing resource this year and hope it prevents residents from having to wait in long lines at the polls.”

The Badger Books are NOT connected to the internet. They are connected by a secure local wireless network that allows the books to share information with each other.

The Badger Books do NOT interact with the voting equipment used at the polling place. They do NOT process votes.

Voters will still check in with an election inspector on Election Day. They will show a photo ID and sign their name on an electronic screen. The election inspector will issue them a number. The voter will then take this number to the ballot table and receive the appropriate ballot.
