Police Explorers Post

Police Explorers Post

Purpose
The goal of the Wausau Explorer Post is to provide area youth with a better understanding of local government, its functions, and responsibilities. In addition, we promote respect for the law and provide each explorer with the opportunity to observe police department operations. Lastly, the post provides information and exploration of law enforcement careers. The Explorer Program is affiliated with Learning for Life and each group plans their own activities around the interest of its members.

What Do Explorers Learn?
Police officers from Wausau PD and Kronenwetter PD are known as Explorer Advisors and they mentor the young adults of the post. Explorers train in many activities and build themselves with activities such as conflict resolution, youth leadership, defense & arrest tactics, patrol procedures, firearms safety, traffic & high-risk stops, and much more! Explorers are also allowed to ride along with an officer during the course of their normal duties to better understand the demands of the profession.
