WHAT DO EXPLORERS LEARN?
Explorers are taught by Advisors of the Police Department Post. An advisor is a member of a law enforcement agency who serves as a mentor to the teens & young adults of the post. Explorers train in many activities and build themselves with activities such as: conflict resolution, youth leadership, defense & arrest tactics, patrol procedures, firearms safety, traffic & high-risk stops and much much more! Explorers are also allowed, pending department approval, experience riding along with an officer during the course of their normal duties. WAUSAU PD / KRONENWETTER PD CONNECTION
The Wausau Police Explorer Post was re-established in late 2005 by the Wausau Police Department. In 2007 the post noticed that there were new explorers coming to the post from outside of the City of Wausau. Therefore, the Wausau Police Department approached several metro agencies to see if they would like to have an officer join the post as an advisor.
The Kronenwetter Police Department jumped at the chance. In April 2007, Officer Luis Lopes-Serrao joined the post as an advisor and has been an active advisor with the post ever since. | |
