Garbage Carts
Wittenberg Disposal is utilizing automated collection. Place cart at least 4 feet from any obstacles; this includes recycling bins. Place cart within the edge of your driveway, NOT in the road right-of way.
Remove cart from the edge of your driveway as soon as possible after garage is picked up. If it is not removed and is damaged, you will be charged for a replacment.
Waste Removal for the Village of Kronenwetter

Residents should contact Wittenberg Disposal Services at 1-888-804-8556 with questions regarding collection.

Contact the Village of Kronenwetter office at 693-4200 for new service.

A 96-gallon container is provided for each Village resident. All garbage must be inside the container with the lid closed.

Extra bags require $.50 stickers. Stickers are available for purchase at the Village of Kronenwetter office at 1582 Kronenwetter Drive, Mosinee.

All garbage and recycling needs to be placed out by 6 a.m. the day of collection.

Holidays are New Year s Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If your collection day is on a holiday, your collection will be one day late, as will collection for days following your day for the rest of that week.

Collection Schedule Garbage and recycling collection is provided each week.

  • Monday: All residences west of Old Highway 51
  • Tuesday:  All residences east of County Highway X & all residences south of E State Highway 153.
  • Wednesday: All residences west of County Highway X, east of Interstate 39 and north of Kowalski Road.
  • Thursday: All residences west of County Highway X, east of Interstate 39, south of Kowalski Road and north of E State Highway 153.

Change effective 5/12/08--Please call Wittenberg Disposal (1-888-804-8556) when you place the following items by the street on your weekly collection day: sofa, chair, table, dresser, bed frame, lamp, vacuum cleaner, mattress, box spring, computer keyboard, VCR.  These are no-charge items, which Wittenberg Disposal picks up on Thursdays.
 
BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE SERVICES ON A WEEKLY OR MONTHLY BASIS, THE VILLAGE DOES NOT HAVE AN ANNUAL CLEANUP.
 
Old Paint--the following instructions for disposing of unused latex paint include:
 
1. Let the liquid evaporate and dry out completely.
2. Cat litter, paper or sand can be used to absorb the paint and let dry.
3. Ask a neighbor if they would like to use the paint.
4. Only dry cans can be put in the regular garbage.

Motor oil--accepted at Veolia Environmental Services, 5508 Fuller Street, Schofield, 359-2317.  Accepted at Walmart Tire & Lube Express, 4300 Rib Mt Drive, Wausau, 359-3558; open 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; maximum: 5 gallons per visit in sealed container.  Accepted at Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, 301 Alderson Street, Schofield, 261-1900; open: second and fourth Friday and Saturday--Friday: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Recycling-weekly

Place bins at least 4 feet from garbage cart to reduce the chance that bins will be tipped over when truck picks up the cart to dump it.
 
Glass, plastic, tin cans and aluminum cans can be commingled in the same container. Do NOT place recyclables in plastic bags. Corrugated cardboard should be broken down in bundles no larger than 2 ft. X 3 ft. and bundled or placed in paper grocery bags.

Glass food and beverage containers: clear, brown, green and blue, remove and discard caps and rings, rinse thoroughly, place in commingled container, NO dishes, light bulbs, window glass

Plastic numbers 1 and 2 only: remove and discard caps and rings, rinse thoroughly and flatten, if possible, place in commingled container, NO motor oil containers, toys, plastic food wrappers

Tin cans: food container cans only, rinse thoroughly and flatten, if possible, place in commingled container, NO paint cans, hangers, toys, metal

Aluminum cans: rinse thoroughly and flatten, if possible, place in commingled container

Paper: newspaper and inserts junk mail, magazines, catalogs paper grocery bags, cereal boxes, soda cartons, bundle or place in paper grocery bags, NO wax or plastic coated paper, NO food-contaminated paper

Place your household garbage into tie-able garbage bags to prevent loose debris from flying around when the garbage is being dumped in the truck.

Place your garbage and recycling items out by 6 a.m. on the day of collection. Garbage carts should not be left by the roadside for any length of time after your garbage is picked up.
 
 
Village Yard-Waste Site
 
Location:  4496 Martin Road (4 miles east of Creek Road)
Schedule:  open beginning Saturday, 4/26/08, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Wednesday, 4/30/08,4 p.m. -6 p.m. 
 
The following items are allowed: grass clippings, leaves, pine needles and tree branches (six inches or less). Tree stumps and painted or treated wood is not allowed. The Marathon County Landfill, Ringle, WI accepts painted and treated wood.
