In 2006 the Kronenwetter Police Department was awarded a grant which allowed
the department to purchase a radar trailer. This unit has been actively used in
the community and with great results.

The unit has several excellent features:
* Flashing speed sign when violators are approaching.
* Posted sign with actual posted speed limit.
* Traffic counter, indicates how many vehicles passed unit.
* Speed monitor, indicates several speed observations.

The department receives traffic complaints from all over our community in regard to traffic concerns.  Unfortunatly, officers can often be responding to and from complaints and do not always have the time to sit in a neighborhood and monitor traffic. That is where the radar trailer comes in as a GREAT TOOL.

When the department receives a complaint regarding speeding and some other traffic concerns,
the radar trailer will be placed into that neighborhood as quickly as possible. The trailer will then
stay there usually for a couple of days monitoring traffic and reminding motorists to slow down.
The department then utilizes those results to better respond to the area for traffic enforcement.
