The Kronenwetter Police Department is composed of a variety of officers with different levels of experience and training. This page will introduce you to the men and women of our agency that work day in and day out to protect the citizens and visitors alike of our wonderful community. These officers were selected out of many applicants by the police & fire commission and board of trustees to serve the community with your trust.
 
~COMMAND STAFF~
NAME: DANIEL JOLING
RANK: CHIEF OF POLICE
SERVING SINCE: 1974

Chief Joling has a long record of service to the community and country. Chief Joling served our country with the United States Army for nearly 30 years. He also served with the City of Nekoosa Police Department from 1976 to 2004, where he left at the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. In 2004 he was hired with the newly formed Kronenwetter Police Department and had the tedious task of creating a department from the ground up. This including things such as: creating forms, hiring additional staff, designing department uniforms, shoulder patches and patrol vehicles. Beside his duties with the police department Chief Joling is a certified motorcycle operator instructor.
NAME: TERRY MCHUGH 
RANK: LIEUTENANT OF POLICE
SERVING SINCE: 1996
SPECIALIZED DUTIES: Field Training Officer

Terry McHugh was the fourth full-time officer hired for the department in July 2006. McHugh previously served our country in the United States Army. McHugh came to Kronenwetter with nearly ten years of service in law enforcement. He was promoted to the new rank of Lieutenant on July 30, 2009.

NAME: CHRIS SMART-DEFOE
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 1999
SPECIALIZED DUTIES: Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, Terrorism Liason Officer

Officer Smart was the first of three officers hired in May 2005 to staff the newly created police department. Officer Smart came to Kronenwetter with nearly six years of service in Tribal Law Enforcement.

NAME: ANDREW ZORTMAN
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 2001
SPECIALIZED DUTIES: Evidence Technician, Property Room Management

Officer Zortman was the second of three officers hired in May 2005 to staff the newly created police dept. Officer Zortman came to Kronenwetter with over four years of service in Marathon County and competes in firearm competitions.
 
 
Awards & Special Recognition:
- 2008: Everest Area Optimists Club "Officer of the Year"
- 2010: Letter of Recognition for his efforts to provide CPR during a medical emergency.
NAME: LUIS LOPES-SERRAO
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 2000
SPECIALIZED DUTIES: K-9 Officer, Field Training & Technology Officer, Explorer Post Advisor

Officer Lopes-Serrao was the third of three officers hired in May 2005 to staff the newly created police department. Officer Lopes-Serrao is a board member with the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Exploring Advisors Association and a member of the WI Law Enforcement Canine Association. He came to Kronenwetter with nearly five years of service in law enforcement.
Awards & Special Recognition:
- 2007: Meritorious Conduct Commendation for his actions during a police involved shooting in Rothschild.
- 2008: Purple Heart Commendation for injuries he received in the line of duty.
- 2009: Everest Area Optimists Club "Officer of the Year".
NAME: JASON RASMUSSEN
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 1996
SPECIALIZED DUTIES: Radio Technician

Officer Rasmussen was hired in July 2006 as the departments first part-time patrol officer, but was promoted to become the department's fifth full-time patrol officer In July 2007. Officer Rasmussen came to Kronenwetter with nearly ten years of service in Wausau Metro Area.
 
 
 
NAME: GARY ANDERSON
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 1989

Officer Anderson served our country for three years in the United States Army. Officer Anderson was hired as a part-time patrol officer in July 2007 coming to our department with nearly 18 years of service. He currently works full-time for the Stevens Point Police Department.
 
NAME: TIMOTHY OBREMSKI 
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 2001

Officer Obremski served our country for two years in the United States Army. He currently works for the Stevens Point Police Department as a patrol & school liason officer. Officer Obremski was hired as a part-time patrol officer in July 2007 coming to us with nearly 6 years of service. He currently also serves with:
 
 
 
NAME: JEANETTE STANKOWSKI 
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 1992

Officer Stankowski was hired as a part-time patrol officer in July 2007 coming to us with nearly 15 years of service. 
NAME: RON DALLMAN
RANK: POLICE OFFICER
SERVING SINCE: 1992

Officer Dallman was hired in September 2008 as a part-time officer. Officer Dallman comes to us with nearly 16 years of service in Marathon County. 
 
~Support Staff~
NAME: DIANNE DREW
RANK: POLICE CLERK
SERVING SINCE: 2005

Dianne was hired in 2005 as the departments first police clerk. As a clerk her duties include: maintaining office records and police reports, data entry, department of motor vehicle services and much more. Dianne also serves as secretary to the Police & Fire Commission. Before coming to Kronenwetter, Dianne previously was employed with a local law firm and Marathon County Corporation Counsel.

- 2006: Dianne was awarded from the Everest Area Optimists Club for her service to the community.
NAME: Rev. Duane Hamilton
RANK: Police Chaplain

Rev. Hamilton has been a volunteer chaplain with the Marathon County Emergency Services for 15 years. This has given him involvement in five different law enforcement agencies within the greater Wausau area, being available to minister to both sworn officers as well as being able to reach out to victims of those who have experienced tragedy in their life.

Rev. Hamilton  is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC) headquartered in Destin, FL.
www.icpc4cops.org. Through their programming he has received training in Stress Management Relief, Post-shooting Syndrome, Ethics in Chaplaincy, making Death Notifications, as well as many other areas of service. These are ongoing training sessions held in the region on an annual basis.

During his years of service, he has had the opportunity to provide counseling to officers and their families for a variety of situations as well as lead in-service materials to law enforcement personnel.
 
 
In 2009, Rev. Hamilton began a new venture in his life as a full-time Community Service Officer with the Wausau Police Department.
NAME: K-9 "CHIP"
SERVING SINCE: 2010

K-9 "Chip" is a Belgian Malinois (pronounced Mal-in-wah) born in Jalisco, Zapopan, Mexico in the summer of 2008. He was acquired through the Little Rock K-9 Academy in Little Rock, Ark. in January 2010 where his handler, Officer Lopes-Serrao, attended a training course.
 
K-9 "Chip" is a very hard working dog trained in the detection of narcotic odors. He is also trained in patrol work to do building and area searches, tracking persons and criminal apprehension.
