As in any other court of law, you are entitled to be represented by an attorney but the court does not appoint an attorney nor does it pay for attorney costs and/or expenses. We have created this web page to  provide you with information you may need in regard to the Municipal Court process. If you have any questions  please contact us by phone or stop by and see us.

As of May 2008, there are 252 Municipal Courts in the State of Wisconsin. Municipal Courts have jurisdiction over civil traffic and ordinance laws within their respective community, but do not enforce criminal laws. Refer to the top of your citation to see if you should appear in municipal or criminal court. It is possible to be required in two different courts from one traffic stop, so refer to any and all citations issued to you to see if you are required to appear in court and in which court you should appear. You may wonder how officers decide which court to use:

KRONENWETTER MUNICIPAL COURT:
Only prosecutes traffic and ordinance citations issued by Kronenwetter police officers, not including criminal traffic. If you are issued a citation in Kronenwetter but by the Wisconsin State Patrol or Marathon County Sheriff, refer to the Marathon County Circuit Court.

MARATHON COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT:
Prosecutes criminal laws violated within Marathon County. If you are issued a criminal traffic citation in the Village of Kronenwetter, you should attend this court.
