4) Make sure flue works properly
5) Cleanup your yard before winter

Fire Safety
Fireplaces: open the damper before lighting the fire; the trap should be cleaned once a year
Fire Extinguishers: all residents should have an ABC Fire Extinguisher in their home and garage
Candles: be cautious when you burn them; never leave burning candles unattended
Paper: do not burn giftwrapping in your fireplace
Adopt a Hydrant
We ask that you assist us in fire protection by adopting a hydrant near your home or business and ensure that it is clear of any snow, debris or obstructions that could hamper our firefighters ability to quickly hook-up and get water. Especially during the winter, it is not uncommon for hydrants to have snow build up around the hydrants. So, please do us a favor and keep them clean. If you see any issues with hydrants, please contact the Village of Kronenwetter.
