Fire Department Apparatuses
 
The Kronenwetter Fire Department has many different pieces of machinery
that are used for many different types of situations.
 
VEHICLE:    73 ENGINE 1

A fire engine is designed to pump water for the purpose of fighting fires. The fire engine may also pump a chemical extinguishant such as foam. The fire engine has one or more of several different methods of sending the water to the fire. The typical way is to pass water to the fire via hoses from an array of valves mounted on the side of the truck.

This 1999 Ford Police Interceptor was previously a fire car with the Howard Fire Department and then an unmarked police vehicle witht the Kronenwetter Police Department. In 2007 the vehicle was transferred to the fire department for their use. The fire car can be utilized for many different uses such as fire response, fire inspections, transporting additional fire fighters to calls, first responder response on med calls, transportation for training and much more.
VEHICLE:    73 RESCUE 1

Essentially oversized toolboxes on wheels, the rescue truck is primarily designed for technical rescue situations such as auto accidents. The rescue truck also carries more equipment and can be utilized for many different fire situations.
VEHICLE:    73 UTILITY 1

The fire utility truck is filled with all the extras. This truck has lots of different uses but most of all transports needed items too and from scenes.

The "brush buggy" as it is most commonly reffered to is a fire response vehicle used primarily for fighting brush, grass, tree and pile fires.
 
 
 
 
VEHICLE:    73 TANKER 1

A water tanker is a specialized firefighting apparatus designed for the sole purpose of transporting water from a water source to a fire scene. Water tankers are capable of pulling water from a stream, lake or hydrant.
 
 
VEHICLE 73 ATV 1

This all-terrain vehicle is a valuable asset to the fire department. It allows fire fighters to carry personnel and equipment into areas where they cannot bring larger trucks. It is also important in rescue operations in safely transporting injured or ill persons.
