ALCOHOL | DRUGS & NARCOTICS | ORDINANCE | TRAFFIC

One of the most common, most deadly and most frustrating crimes that the Kronenwetter Police Department continunes to battle is impaired driving (OWI, DUI, Drunk Driving). The KPD takes
a zero tolerance stance on impaired driving!

People often think about one thing when they drive impaired, will I get caught? They should think of some more important questions such as; what will happen when I die, what will happen when I murder someone else, what will happen when my family leaves me, or what will happen when I lose my job.

Question: What is the difference between DUI/DWI & OWI?

Answer: "OWI" - operating while under the influcence of alcohol or other drug. You will often hear people refer to drunk driving as DUI/DWI, but in the State of Wisconsin it is "OWI". The "D" in DUI/DWI stands for driving, which is a big difference in Wisconsin. In Wisconsin, it is unlawful to "operate a motor vehicle" while under the influence.
The definition of "operate" is: the physical manipulation or activation of any controls of a
motor vehicle necessary to put it in motion.
